About Me

Hello and welcome to my About Me page! My name is Ku ZhenWei. You can call me Zen if you want to. Allow me to tell you to take you through my inspirations and interest in this page and hopefully you will be able to understand more about me and how we can take inspirations through things we do everyday.

Despite my formal picture above, as a teenager, I was very into basketball. The sports that is dominated by hiphop style dressing before the 2005 mandatory dress code.

Allen Iverson as a prime example would the style that players would wear during press conference or sitting out a game due to injury.I was kind of influenced by the style and started buying caps and wristbands.

As for my desktop wallpaper?

As you can see it is also influenced by hiphop style grunge effects. Maybe due to sports, I like photos and designs that has more lines and movements. Such as this one below

When I eventually moved on to college and university, the style starts to change and now NBA players are better dressed and you could see the impact as NBA players such as Lebron James gets on the cover of GQ magazine

Depending how you look at it, the positive side of it is definitely NBA players having a broader appeal at an international level as the men are starting to know the importance of differentiating private identity and public image

.

The only thing that have not changed for me is the preference for designs that uses lines and glowing effects. In the picture above, I totally do not like the tie worn by Chris Bosh (most left) but the suite looks good to me.

Another part of me that I think is influenced by basketball is my inspiration to become a corporate trainer. You may ask how basketball is related to a corporate? Well a part from the basketball player in suites, it is the motivation and drive that I invested in order to become good at the sport. With my height of 163cm, it is hardly an advantage in a sport where height and size is a huge advantage. For that, I have to work harder, run faster, jump higher, shoot better than people that are taller than me.

In that sense, lines and movement style of design preferred by me is probably justified. Lines to me represent  clear goals and directions. The design that indicates movement represent the need to move forward and improve in order to stay in the game.

Still not convinced? Just look at my current desktop wallpaper!

Lines and movements again. As a corporate trainer, you have to understand the importance of working in teams as a company is not a single player. Just like how basketball works. The image of a corporate trainer has to be professional and after 2005 dresscode, the players are good examples of how you should dress.
While it may looked like there is no longer any basketball influence in my current wallpaper or style of working, I have transferred what I learned from basketball into things I do everyday. Perhaps it may not be tangible but  I believe it is definitely something useful to teams or organizations that I am fortunate enough to work with.
